Born in 1949. In his early years of career, he served as a reporter in various newspapers on a variety of subjects, including literature, politics, senior field correspondent and later editor-in-chief at Le Figaro, one of France’s two largest national newspapers.
In 2000, he was appointed director of the weekly Le Point (one of the most important weekly newspapers in France). In 2014 he left office but has since continued to write the main opinion column for the weekly.
From 2017 to the present he runs “La Provence” – the central newspaper of the Provence region.
In addition, since 1997, Giesbert has been directing cultural and literary programs on television and, due to his great popularity, is often invited to various TV shows as an interviewer or as a panelist.
Giesbert is also a successful author, who has authored dozens of books, of which he has won numerous awards for.
